Dear Parents, Kids, Teachers and Faculty,

The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) is pleased to provide you with additional construction progress updates on the construction/renovation project at Millville Senior High School.

In response to requests for more information about the project status, we plan to share with you periodic project updates on the Millville Senior High School website. We’ll cover what areas are being demolished and renovated, progress of new facility additions, how we’re making temporary accommodations, how the overall project is progressing and any potential impacts to school operations.

As you may know, when it’s completed, the Millville Senior High School will include 230,000 square feet of additions and 58,000 square feet of renovations that will increase student capacity to accommodate more than 2,000 students in 9th through 12 grades.

The project, which began in April 2018, consists of 4 Phases.

This is one of the most involved projects the SDA has undertaken to date, so close coordination and planning was completed with school district officials breaking the project into four phases. These four phases allow for the District, students and teachers to continue to safely occupy and utilize the existing facility.

Existing and temporary facilities will be utilized as swing space by students and staff. These areas are partitioned off from students and staff and safe temporary facilities are being constructed. School operations and student instruction should not be disrupted during their daily classroom instruction periods. Safety is first and foremost important throughout this project and we are dedicated to working closely with the school, our contractor and the SDA to ensure safety throughout this project.

Here is a short summary of the work:

Phase 1— Complete
Demolition of the Auditorium and selective classrooms, construction of temporary
cafeteria, temporary music rooms and temporary walkways.

Phase 2—Currently in Progress
Demolition of cafeteria, construction of new media center, new main office and 3 story
west addition housing the new cafeteria, kitchen and general classrooms.
Anticipated Completion Date: Q2 2020

Please note, we anticipate that the new media center, main office and nurse’s suite will
be opened in September 2019.

Phase 3—Anticipated Start Date: Q3 2019
Demolition of temporary classroom units, temporary cafeteria, various interior
renovations and start of construction of the new 2-story north addition housing the new
gymnasium, locker rooms, weight room, classrooms and science labs.
Anticipated Completion Date: Q3 2021

Phase 4—Anticipated Start Date: Q2 2021

Demolition of the rotunda and green house, various alterations, construction of the new
auditorium and art studios.
Anticipated Completion Date: 2022
