Dear Parents/Guardians,

RE: Student Volunteers Needed

Millville Public Schools is requesting assistance from our student leaders and school community to participate in an Active Shooter training exercise in partnership with our first responders. These agencies, with their invitation, have recognized that Millville Public School’s commitment to the safety and security of our staff/students is our highest priority.

This exercise will provide Millville Public Schools with valuable information that will improve our security and crisis management procedures. The training exercise will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Lakeside Middle School. This exercise will include first responders from the entire county as well as Inspira Hospital.

Student participants will receive:

● A Commendation letter from the participating agencies
● Community service hours that may be used for National Honor Society or for future resumes for college or jobs
● Food will be available on the day of the event
● A “Thank you” luncheon at the High School
● Bolt Bucks for student participation

The goal of the training is not only to improve the County’s response to an emergency situation but also to improve our ability to protect our children, save lives, and reduce injuries. This will allow all parties involved to evaluate emergency operations and improve on response skills which empowers everyone to make the best decisions for survival if they ever experience a similar emergency in school or in life.

Please share the above information with your child/children. Students must be
16 years or older to participate. An Informational Meeting will be held on August 13th, 2019 at 5:30 PM at Lakeside Middle School Cafeteria to provide detailed information about the exercise and to answer any questions or concerns.

If your child is interested in being an actor/volunteer for this exercise please complete the following online form located
